Happy Father's Day!!

Wanted to wish all the dad's out there a Happy Father's Day. Even though the commercial and retail world doesn't hype up today compared to your counterpart - you are just as special and appreciated for all that you do! I miss you dad!

I made this 12x12 Digital Layout using the Photo Kiosk we have at the store to make this wedding layout of my mom & dad. We just uploaded a bunch of new content to the computer and here's one from the Wedding Category. Prints are only $3.99/12x12 page.















It's so quick and easy to make these pages...simply bring your thumb drive or memory stick from your camera filled with the photos you want to use. Select your layout and drag and drop the photos right into the frames...it's that easy!! Printing takes about 15 minutes, so instant gratification!!

Personable Gifts Under $20

Aloha my blogging friends! Sorry it's been about 1 week since my last post...things have been a little busy at the store. Thanks so much for spreading the word out about Pineapple Cove!!! The month has also been filled with excitement for me since I got to meet some of you in person...Linda from Simple & Sassy Creations; Teri from Big Ideas from a Little Girl; and Cami from Capture a Heart. If you guys get a chance, go check out their blogs because these girls are so talented and have wonderful projects to share!

For today's post, I wanted to showcase some of Kaisercraft products that are versatile and affordable. With gas prices continuing to climb, every little penny counts!! The other great thing about the Kaisercraft line is that they come in coordinating collections. You have 4 coordinating designer papers to choose from that are double sided, rub-ons and brads to match and a variety of bling rhinestones, pearls and flowers.

I made this cute Table Tidy (aka Pencil Holder) that would make a great gift, all for under $20. The Table Tidy is part of Kaisercrafts "Beyond the Page" collection. It's like naked wood that you can paint or cover with DP and decorate. Comes in a variety of shapes, sizes and is so fun to play with. We have clocks, trash bins, wall hangings, coasters, & albums to name a few. Come by the store to see the whole collection of shapes...the great thing is that you can decorate to match any decor you have around the house. For this project, I decided to use one of my favorite color combo Pink & Brown. The DP is from Kaiser's Pretty in Pink collection. The flowers and rhinestones are also from Kaisercraft.

I've never worked with acrylic paint before - so this was a fun project and it wasn't messy at all. I simply painted the wood with the acrylic paint, let it dry and then used Mod Podge to adhere the DP. Sealed the DP and paint with one last coat of Mod Podge, and then embellished with some ribbon and Kaiser Flowers and Rhinestones.

This will be on display as a sample in the store. I'll be bringing in the acrylic paint and mod podge with my next order. But in the meantime, you can easily find the paint and mod podge at Wal-Mart or Ben Franklin.

Storing Ribbon

As promised, here's a great way to organize and store your ribbon. You'll clear up that drawer full of ribbon rolls and make finding that perfect ribbon to go with your scrapbook page or card super quick & easy. I cased this idea from Nichole Heady who co-owns Papertrey Ink.

Here's what an organized mess full of ribbon may look like. The rolls are bulky, come in different sizes and takes up a whole lot of space. Once you start to stack your ribbon rolls, it's hard to see the design & colors on the bottom.


Nichole had the great idea of using clothespins to wrap her ribbon for easy storage. They come in two sizes and are also known as dollpins. The small is around 2-1/2" and is great for smaller yardage. The large is around 3-1/2" and I use those to wrap my 25yd rolls.


To get started, hold the end of your ribbon against the wooden pin towards the top and with your other hand, wrap the ribbon once around the pin. You will want to overlap the second layer over the first so that it holds the end in place and doesn't unravel. This also prevents from having to use tape to secure the end.


Next, you'll want to start wrapping your ribbon around the pin in a diagonal fashion while moving downward on the pin. Don't worry if your first layer has some some holes showing the wood. You'll end up covering those as you continue to wrap.


Once you reach the bottom, simply continue wrapping and start moving upward towards the top of the pin. Continue this downward and upward wind until you reach the end of your ribbon.


To secure the end, I simply use a flathead pin. These can be found in the sewing section of any craft store. If you are worried about the needle poking holes through your ribbon, especially the satin ones, you can always substitute the pin with some tape instead.


Lastly, I organize my ribbon by color and place them in a plastic or glass jar. This makes it easy for me to find the perfect color and style to use on my pages and cards. It takes very little space to store, and adds some decor to my craft room.

If you are interested in getting these clothespins, I have an order already in place so they should be arriving soon. I also have plastic jars perfect for these that come in two different sizes, large and small. The small jars are perfect for notions like buttons or brads.

Quickie

I had to make a quick Thank You card today and thought I'd slip in another post...sometimes it's hard to find pattern paper that's fit for the boyz. There's so many "pretty" DP out there, the selection is often limited for these little rascals. We don't want to leave them out, so I have Kaisercrafts entire line of double-sided 12x12 paper. Each collection is themed and comes with 3 coordinating patterns..but since they are double-sided, it's like getting 6 coordinating patterns for half the price!



This card uses the "Shotgun" DP from the Lone Ranger collection..sentiment still needs to be added. Very simply and quick card to put together when you are in a rush.

I'll tell you more about the entire line of Kaisercraft products in another post...they have coordinating brads & rub-ons too. But I'll save that for another day.

Ribbon by the Yard

I'm going to take my GF Teri's advice and devote some blog time to tell you about some of the products we carry...since I haven't had a chance to work on any samples yet.

I don't know about you, but I LOVE Ribbon! The colors, the texture and the versatility in being able to use it in just about everything...scrapbook pages, cards, favors, invitations, tying up your hair when you can't find a rubber band or scrunchie.

Often times, I find myself not needing the 25yd or 50yd spools. These quantities are great when making large numbers of favor boxes and invitations. But for a card or scrapbook page, a yard will do. So we offer a variety of ribbon colors for sale by the yard. I have Organdy, Satin and Grosgrain ribbon available for $.45 to $.99/yard.

Say Cheese!

We had some excitement at the store these past few days that I wanted to share...

Some gals from the Military Wives of Oahu group on Meetup.com made a special trip to visit the store on Wednesday. It was so nice to meet all of you who share the same passion for scrapbooking. They started the group in November and get together to scrap a few times each month. Great way to share ideas and get inspired! You can find more information about the group HERE. Love your work and can't wait to do something together soon!!

Help Feed Hawaii's Hungry

Sorry this is so last minute..we're collecting non-perishable items to donate to Hawaii Foodbank tomorrow June 11. The foodmobile is coming between 10am -12pm Thursday to pick-up...but if you can't make it by then, we'll still take donations to drop off to the food bank directly. We'll be collecting until Sunday June 14.
