You're probably familiar with the creative and adorable work of Jenny Sakamoto from Hilo...she's the creative mind behind crazyforpaper.blogspot.com. She's partnered up with her sister who is a freelance artist living in Milan, Italy to design adorable stamps that we will debut here on July 1, 2011!!!

The stamps are made of rubber, with cling foam backing that you can use with any acrylic block. They measure approximately 2-1/2" x 3". The debut release will include the following 3 Asian girls:

Sew Easy & Yo Yo Maker

I finally got a chance to play with my Sew Easy tool and Flower Yo-Yo Maker that have been HOT sellers here at Pineapple Cove!

Here's the card I came up with. Simple and clean.

The leaves were made using the Sew Easy tool with the large Vine piercing head. I LOVED how they turned out. The holes that were pierced by the tool made it SEW easy to bamboo stitch the vines and loop stitch the leaves. I also loved the fact that I was able to swirl the tool along my paper to create the crooked vines.

Hand stitching the vines brought back so many memories of my grandmother. She taught my sister and I how to embroider when we were in elementary school. We each got a set of floss which she braided into a rope so we could easily pull out the colors we needed. She then sketched some vines, leaves and flowers onto a pillow case for our first project. I LOVED it!!! I know I have the pillow case tucked away somewhere for keepsake...miss you Grandma!

The fabric flowers here were made with the Flower Yo Yo maker in size small. I just took a few scraps of fabric and followed the instructions that come with the tool to make these adorable fabric flowers. I thought they added a nice touch to the hand stitched vines. Next project...I hope to use the flower and butterfly yo yo's to make some hair clips.

These food safe candy tubes are so fun & versatile for any occasion! I'm sharing here some Army themed tubes designed by Tessa Buys.

Do you recognize those green mints inside the tubes? These are larger than the M&M candy stix bags, so you have a wider selection of treats to fill them with.

Sew Easy Tips & Tricks - Part 3

One of the many benefits of Sew Easy is that you are not limited to piercing in a straight line. It's a freeform tool, which allows you to make curves, waves and even circles.

Circles!?! I've always wondered how this was achieved and was so excited to stumble upon Kim Dellow's blog where she explained how it's done. Thanks Kim!!

Please visit Kim's blog to see her tutorial on making circles with your Sew Easy!

This concludes our mini series on the tips & tricks we found useful, hope you enjoyed it!!

Sew Easy Tips & Tricks - Part 2

Here are some "basics" on getting the most out of your Sew Easy!

Before you can start piercing, it's important to have the right Piercing Mat:

  • You need a firm but soft base like foam to allow the piercing tool to pierce holes through your paper easily.
  • If your mat is too hard, the paper will crumple, as there is no "give"
  • The Sew Easy Piercing Mat is ideal to use, but I've had success with using a soft mouse pad too
Now that you have your tools in hand, let's talk about paper:

Paper/Cardstock

We R Memory Keepers recommend that you use "paper or light card" weight with the Sew Easy tool. With a little practice, you are able to pierce through thicker cardstock weight like Bazzill Basics using the following technique:

  • You will want to keep the edge of the pierce head parallel to your paper like the illustration below. If you don't keep it parallel, your pressure will not be even, which will result in crumpled paper.

  • If you are using thicker cardstock, push the Sew Easy tool along steadily and firmly. If you roll too quickly, the holes won't pierce through, but you will still get some indentations that you can easily go through with a straight pick piercing tool.
  • When pushing downward, use your elbows and not just your finger. You won't get enough pressure with just your finger, and it will help minimize the paper/cardstock from shifting and crumpling.
  • Lastly, thread up your needle with floss and stitch away!
Tomorrow's post will feature how to use your Sew Easy tool to make a circle!

Sew Easy Tips & Tricks - Part 1

We've been anxiously awaiting for the new Sew Easy piercing heads to arrive - now that the collection is complete with 8 NEW larger piercing heads and 12 NEW floss, we will be providing some tips and tricks over the next few days from our own personal experience to help you get the most out of your Sew Easy!

Those of you who are unfamiliar with Sew Easy, it's a HOT tool by WE R Memory Keepers (the creators of some of my favorite tools, Crop-a-Dile, & Corner Chomper). This little gadget allows you to add beautiful stitching in different designs to your paper crafting projects without having to own a sewing machine. Here are some of the other reasons why I love it!

  • Don't have to own or take out your bulky sewing machine!!
  • Saves you a lot of time from manually piercing holes
  • Flexible in allowing you to pierce straight lines or curvy lines
  • Lots of variety of shapes in each piercing head (has at least 3 different styles of stitching per head) with over 15 piercing heads to choose from!
  • Adds variety & texture to your paper crafting projects
  • Very affordable!!!
Here are just a sample of some of the designs you can get with the Sew Easy tool.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post where we will give you some tips on cardstock, piercing mats & how to's.
