Donut Glaze...
Happy Monday everyone...are you all rested from the Christmas Holidays, only to start preparing for New Years? Don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to the new year! Quick post today to show you a sample I made using one of the new Hero Arts clear stamps called 'Have a Donut'. I was inspired by a photo I saw in the 2010 Catalog...it's filled with great samples and ideas if you haven't picked one up for yourself yet, we still have some left.
These donuts were so fun to color and glaze. We carry the clear acetate boxes in the store - they are great for packaging small gifts, or a pack of hand made cards to give as a gift. I used it to hold the donuts and wrapped a small band around which held the sentiment. Imagine receiving a box of these...mmmm.
Thanks for visiting today...I hope to have our blog candy available soon for the new year, so check back for more sweet treats!

Talent
Our customers are so talented...I love it when they show me the projects that they've been working on. I get so much inspiration from them, and admire all the work and patience they put into their projects.
I wanted to showcase some beautiful work that I recently received that are on display at Pineapple Cove. The first is a set of tags that Leslie made for a craft fair. Look at all the details and embellishments on these tags..they are so pretty, you don't want to give them away!
The corrugated cardstock she used is so unique, and adds so much texture to the tag. These are gorgeous Leslie, I'm definatly keeping mine. =)
Next is a beautiful Christmas tree pin given to me by Edie. OMG - look at all the little details of the ornaments & garland. Let alone, how many little green beads it took to make the tree. I'm always amazed at all the projects Edie comes up with..she makes it look so easy!
Thank you girls for sharing your amazing work with me. I can't wait to see your projects in the new year!!

Hero Party Re-Cap
THANK YOU to all who was able to make it out to our Hero Arts Preview Party on Friday & Saturday. I know everyone's busy finishing up their Christmas shopping, so I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to stop by. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did...aren't the new stamps just too adorable?
I also wanted to send a special 'Mahalo' to Ida who stopped by to give me this beautiful lei she made. She knew I was hosting the party, and made this special lei for me to wear. Thank you so much Ida - hope you had fun at the movies afterwards!
The day was filled with Red Velvet cake (mmm..mmm good! I didn't have time to bake the cupcakes I had wanted to, so had to substitute with this instead), cookies, stamping, laughs and lots of fun. Here's some of the projects we worked on.
The first Make n' Take project was a cute little sour cream style favor box. I used the adorable fish from the Ocean's of Joy Poly Clear set, colored with markers and added a little stickles to his scales. The favor box was made with transparency paper and two strips of pattern paper. Super easy, super cute! We have the transparency paper for sale at the store in packs of 5 or 10.
Another Make 'n Take that we worked on was a simple little tag/card...here I used my Marvy Tag punch, folded the cardstock in half and punched out the tag by leaving the bottom fold in tact. Used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder to emboss one side of the tag and then stamped the owl from the Sweet Owls Sparkle Clear set. Punched the owl using my small scallop circle from Marvy and added a sentiment on the inside using the the Message Bubbles Clear set.
If you didn't get a chance to stop by for the preview party, we still have some catalogs available for sale. It's filled with great card ideas and lots of inspiration. I'll be working on more samples for the store, so I'll post some pix up as soon as they are done.
Thanks again to all who stopped by - I had a blast crafting with you. Until next time....

Amazing What You Can Do With Paper!
I'm always amazed at the versatility of paper....I went shopping with my girlfriend on Friday and found this cute metal framed dressform that I thought would make a great addition to the store. (Sorry, I forgot to take a "before" picture...this is the finished product.)
I wanted to decorate her with paper...so came up with the idea of forming her "dress" with some paper flowers that I folded. I originally folded these flowers to make a paper wreath - but that project never got started, so I had a bunch of these flowers just lying around. If you have lots of scraps lying around, this is a great way to make use of them. The large flowers are made out of 1.5"x4" strips of paper, and the small ones are 1"x3" strips.
After finishing the skirt, I took strips of 1"x12" cardstock and weaved it in her bodice to create the top. Finishing it off are lavendar grossgrain ribbon wrapped around for the straps. I love the end product and have it on display at the store.

November Card Club Class
Sally was back teaching different paper crafting techniques in her monthly card club class @ The Cove! This month, we decorated a gift box that was perfect to hold your handmade cards, or a small gift. The gift box was covered with pretty designer paper, blinged out with Kaisercraft rhinestones & flowers, and we even made our own ribbon handle. Check out the photos from the class in the sidebar to the left.
Sally showed us how to use liquid adhesive & a brayer which was the best medium to evenly adhere the designer paper to the glossy finish on the box. We got to decorate with bling rhinestones - gotta love the bling. And we finished off the box by creating our own cute handles with the crop-a-dile, some paper flowers and ribbon. The transformation from plain white box to cute, adorable keepsake was fun and easy.
Next, we got to play with rub-ons and more bling while learning how to make a waterfall card. Who knew rub-ons could be so easy to use? I'm sure you've all had your own experiences with rub-ons...they don't come off when you want them to, sometimes you miss a spot and sometimes you rub off more than you wanted. Sally taught us some great tips & tricks that made them so easy and less intimidating. The Kaisercraft rub-ons came off so easily and with little effort. They really added a nice touch to our card.
Hope you can join us next month...we'll be altering CD's and turning them into gorgeous Thank You cards. I'll be posting a photo of the sample soon.
