ATC Album

I'm gearing up for our ATC Swap on August 15th and wanted to create a place to store all the beautiful ATC's. I found this cute pink 3 ring binder at the office supply store and decided to pretty it up a bit.

Used my trusted Quickutz dies for the lettering, some Prima Flowers and paper scraps to come up with this cover.

I LOVE this shade of pink...it's so girly and so pretty! For the inside, we have these great 9 pocket vinyl sheets that hold the ATC's perfectly! They fit any standard size 3-ring binder.

This last photo showcases 2 ATCs that have already been turned in. The top row was submitted by Eva and the 2nd row was submitted by Cindy. Can't wait to fill these up!

Calendar Coaster

Another easy calendar project, you can find links and supplies listed at the bottom.

If you look at the close-up photos, I hope you can see the nice iridescent glitter that was used over the Ketto image. I first had a chance to use this ultra fine glitter at the Stamping Bella booth at CHA Winter. Used it once and fell in LOVE with it!!!

Unlike Stickles, this glitter is very ultra fine AND the BEST part is that it drys very quickly. It comes as a paint, so you simply use a paint brush to brush it on. Instead of brushing motions, I used a stippling motion instead to cover the entire eyelet circle cut-out. Loved how it came out.

List of Supplies:

* Rectangle Coaster
* Stamping Bella - ginger Ketto Stamp
* Washi Paper
* Large Self Stick Calendar
* Glamour Dust Glitter Paint

2012 Calendars

It's that time of year when you start thinking about projects for the upcoming holidays...we're half way through the year already can you believe it!?!

Christmas collections have already been revealed among the paper craft manufactures websites and CHA.

So get a head start this year with your 2012 Calendar projects. These make great gifts & stocking stuffers for friends and co-workers. They are small in size, so you can mass produce a little at a time without getting overwhelmed or bored.

To help you get your creative juices flowing for this years calendar projects, we'll be hosting a $1 Make n' Take on Saturday July 30 from 1pm - 3pm (or while supplies last). These Hello Kitty Calendar Tents are sure to bring smiles all over.

Throughout the month of August, we'll have more Calendar themed classes to help inspire you...you'll find great uses for these self stick pads.

I made these 15 calendars today with leftover 2011 pads I still had lying around. Paired them with my Hello Kitty PSA stamps and whola....in just a few hours I had 15 calendar tents completed. Quick, easy and I was able to use up a bunch of scraps!

So join us next week and be on the lookout for our Class Schedule coming out soon.

Artist Trading Card (ATC)

I've been wanting to make some Artist Trading Cards for a while now...found some great textured cardstock by Strathmore, with matching envelopes so thought I'd give it a try.

If you are not familiar with Artist Trading Cards or ATCs, here's a bit of history:

What are Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)?
Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person, online or via mail. It is a great way to meet other artists and share your work. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5".

How did the movement start?
In 1997, M. Vanci Stirnemann, a Swiss artist, created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. After that, the movement took off as other artists organized major "swap" events! Today, there are ATC swaps in almost every major city around the world, as well as online.

How do I create ATCs?
You can use any media, materials or techniques as long as your card fits into a standard trading card sleeve. Art can be original, limited edition or series. Artists should include the following information on the back of their cards:
  • Name
  • Contact Info (email or address)
  • Title of piece
  • Number if it's part of a series

I had a lot of fun creating my card. I found it to be quick & easy, but at the same time, a bit of a challenge. I loved the fact that I can use all my little scraps since your canvas is only 2.5" x 3.5". So this made it fast to put together. But at the same time, the small size also proved to be a bit of a challenge. For my first try, I was happy with the results. I kept it clean and simple...adding a touch of washi paper, distress ink and smooch ink. Mei Lin was colored with copics - colors used are listed below.

Since these were so fun to make, I'm thinking of starting a ATC Swap!!! What do you think? If you're interested in swapping some ATCs with me, let me know either in the comments of this post, or via email and I'll coordinate it! It will be fun...Join the Movement!!! Create, swap & collect!!!
