Ayako Cherry Blossom Card & Copic Class
Sorry this sample took so long to post...this is the sample for our beginner Copic Coloring Class featuring Ayako from Sister Stamps.
In this class, you'll learn how to color Black Hair and blending techniques for coloring skin & clothes.
The class focuses mainly on coloring with your copic markers. We give you all the elements needed to complete the card, which most often is completed at home.
I used the new Worldwin Ruche paper in colors White & Blue this time. I absolutely LOVE the texture of this paper. It made for a great sky and cloud cut-out.
Inside of the card is a sentiment I used again from my favorite set at the moment, Lawn Fawn's Bannerific & Sophie's Sentiments.
Please join us for our Ayako Cherry Blossom Copic Class:
September 10
10:30 - 12:30
September 11
1:00 - 3:00
I'll probably be repeating this class once more towards the end of the month. If you are interested in booking a private lesson for you and a few of your girlfriends, please call me 735-3553. We can accommodate custom classes at any time. Minimum of 3 is required. =)

Bon Dance!
Bon dance season in Hawaii just ended, but that's not stopping Nobu & Miyono of Sister Stamps.
Obon or just Bon is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor the spirits of family members who have passed away.
During the summer months from June to August, you'll find Bon Festivals throughout Hawaii hongwanji missions & temples. Summertime is when it is believed the ancestral spirits return to visit family & friends.
Obon in Japan dates back more than 500 years. Here in Hawaii, the festivals serve as both a ceremony of spiritual remembrance and a celebration of cultural heritage and community. Everyone is welcome at an o-bon festival, regardless of religious background or ethnicity.
These festivals are also known for serving up delicious Japanese foods such as andagi (sweet fried dough), grilled teri-beef and -chicken skewers, musubi (rice balls wrapped in dried seaweed), and stir-fry noodles. The food booths help to nourish the dancers, as well as raise money for the host hongwanji.
Living here for over 30 years, I've never attended one. Driving over the Pali to work, I pass 2 hongwanji missions and always see the beautiful lanterns strewn up. Hopefully I'll be able to catch a few next year.
In the meantime, you can join us this Saturday & Sunday as we teach another Copic Coloring Class. We'll be using the new Ruche Crepe Textured Cardstock, Sister Stamps Release #2 and Lawn Fawn stamps.

Mei Li Copic Coloring Class
Tomorrow we have a Copic Coloring class using Mei Li from Sister Stamps. I cased this shadow box card design from one of the samples given to me by Jenny. Her crafty BFF Debi mass produced a bunch of these samples so we could showcase these cute stamps.
(Sidenote: If you haven't pre-ordered your Sept release, tomorrow is the last day to get 10% off and guarantee you will get your stamps by Sept 1.)
I loved how simple it was to make the card, so decided to use the design in our Copic class tomorrow. *Thanks Jenny & Debi!!
In the class, I will be teaching coloring techniques using Mei Li as our sample subject. In addition, we'll be making this card as part of the class. Working on this card sample, I got a chance to ink up stamps from Lawn Fawn which are now available at Pineapple Cove!
I absolutely LOVED the quality of the photo polymer stamps by Lawn Fawn. The images were deep, leaving very crisp lines. Putting pressure did not smudge my lines like some other clear stamps. And my Memento & Versa Fine ink did not stain the photo polymer, a big pet peeve of mine. Don't you hate it when your pretty stamps get dirty? (*Yes, I'm that kind of crafter lol*)
If you missed tomorrow's class, I'll probably be repeating it next month, so keep an eye on our Calendar for more details.
Stamps Used:
Sister Stamps - Mei Li
Lawn Fawn - Bannerific, Lunar Lights
Hero Arts - Asian Borders

Bottlecaps!
My new mini obsession...bottlecaps! I saw some Hello Kitty bottlecap jewelry on Etsy and thought I just had to try it out. I ordered some colored bottlecaps and have had them for a few months now. Haven't taken the plunge because I didn't want to make too much noise with a hammer trying to flatten the caps. Plus, I wasn't sure how "even" the edges would come out using a hammer.
The wait is finally over since I got my No More Shim Embossing Mat! It made flattening these caps a breeze!!! Below is a video on how easy it is to flatten bottlecaps with a Big Shot or Cuttlebug.
Once the caps were flattened, I used my HK PSA stamps and a 1" circle punch to create different centers. Add a magnet to the back and done!
We'll be doing a FREE Demo next weekend, Saturday 8/20 from 10:30am - 12pm

ATC Album
I'm gearing up for our ATC Swap on August 15th and wanted to create a place to store all the beautiful ATC's. I found this cute pink 3 ring binder at the office supply store and decided to pretty it up a bit.
Used my trusted Quickutz dies for the lettering, some Prima Flowers and paper scraps to come up with this cover.
I LOVE this shade of pink...it's so girly and so pretty! For the inside, we have these great 9 pocket vinyl sheets that hold the ATC's perfectly! They fit any standard size 3-ring binder.
This last photo showcases 2 ATCs that have already been turned in. The top row was submitted by Eva and the 2nd row was submitted by Cindy. Can't wait to fill these up!

Calendar Coaster
Another easy calendar project, you can find links and supplies listed at the bottom.
If you look at the close-up photos, I hope you can see the nice iridescent glitter that was used over the Ketto image. I first had a chance to use this ultra fine glitter at the Stamping Bella booth at CHA Winter. Used it once and fell in LOVE with it!!!
Unlike Stickles, this glitter is very ultra fine AND the BEST part is that it drys very quickly. It comes as a paint, so you simply use a paint brush to brush it on. Instead of brushing motions, I used a stippling motion instead to cover the entire eyelet circle cut-out. Loved how it came out.
List of Supplies:
* Rectangle Coaster
* Stamping Bella - ginger Ketto Stamp
* Washi Paper
* Large Self Stick Calendar
* Glamour Dust Glitter Paint

It's that time of year when you start thinking about projects for the upcoming holidays...we're half way through the year already can you believe it!?!
Christmas collections have already been revealed among the paper craft manufactures websites and CHA.
So get a head start this year with your 2012 Calendar projects. These make great gifts & stocking stuffers for friends and co-workers. They are small in size, so you can mass produce a little at a time without getting overwhelmed or bored.
To help you get your creative juices flowing for this years calendar projects, we'll be hosting a $1 Make n' Take on Saturday July 30 from 1pm - 3pm (or while supplies last). These Hello Kitty Calendar Tents are sure to bring smiles all over.
Throughout the month of August, we'll have more Calendar themed classes to help inspire you...you'll find great uses for these self stick pads.
I made these 15 calendars today with leftover 2011 pads I still had lying around. Paired them with my Hello Kitty PSA stamps and whola....in just a few hours I had 15 calendar tents completed. Quick, easy and I was able to use up a bunch of scraps!
So join us next week and be on the lookout for our Class Schedule coming out soon.

Artist Trading Card (ATC)
I've been wanting to make some Artist Trading Cards for a while now...found some great textured cardstock by Strathmore, with matching envelopes so thought I'd give it a try.
If you are not familiar with Artist Trading Cards or ATCs, here's a bit of history:
What are Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)?
Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person, online or via mail. It is a great way to meet other artists and share your work. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5".
How did the movement start?
In 1997, M. Vanci Stirnemann, a Swiss artist, created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. After that, the movement took off as other artists organized major "swap" events! Today, there are ATC swaps in almost every major city around the world, as well as online.
How do I create ATCs?
You can use any media, materials or techniques as long as your card fits into a standard trading card sleeve. Art can be original, limited edition or series. Artists should include the following information on the back of their cards:
I had a lot of fun creating my card. I found it to be quick & easy, but at the same time, a bit of a challenge. I loved the fact that I can use all my little scraps since your canvas is only 2.5" x 3.5". So this made it fast to put together. But at the same time, the small size also proved to be a bit of a challenge. For my first try, I was happy with the results. I kept it clean and simple...adding a touch of washi paper, distress ink and smooch ink. Mei Lin was colored with copics - colors used are listed below.
Since these were so fun to make, I'm thinking of starting a ATC Swap!!! What do you think? If you're interested in swapping some ATCs with me, let me know either in the comments of this post, or via email and I'll coordinate it! It will be fun...Join the Movement!!! Create, swap & collect!!!
