Storage Solutions for Twine

Now that you have all the pretty colors of Baker's Twine, I wanted to share some storage solutions that is both practical and affordable.

The 10yd spools of twine come wound on a sturdy plastic spool which can be strung on a metal "O" ring. Easy to see your colors and easy access. The other great thing about the plastic spools is that there is a slit where the ends of the twine can be slipped through so that they don't get tangled with each other. The "O" ring can easily be hung up or stored in your craft drawer.

Another storage option is to place the spools into these mini plastic organizers. There are a total of 7 compartments, more than enough room for all the different twine colors. You could also store ribbon, embellies and other small nick knacks in this organizer.

For those of you who purchased the larger 240 yd spools, you probably don't have any slatwall lying around in your craft room (*wink*). Instead, you could use pegboard with metal pegs, or even wooden dowels to replicate this idea. You'll need just a little handy work to put this together.

Hope this gives you some storage ideas for your twine.

The Many Uses of Twine...

I get asked a lot: "What do you do with Twine?"

A: There are so many different uses of twine, thought I'd share a few examples that my g/f's and I made at Scrapper's Jam.

TAGS!!!!
Baker's Twine is perfect on tags! They add a nice pop of color to finish off your tags.

In the photo below, Claudette used the Dark Red twine as the tie off, as well as on the banner string to add some dimension and texture to her Cosmo Cricket tag.

In the next example, Leslie used both the Dark Green and Dark Red twine (which are perfect colors for X-mas tags) as the tie off and cute bow on the buttons.

These tags are adorable and you can get the Baker's Twine in both 240 yard spools as well as smaller 10 yard spools. That way, you can try every color without having to spend a fortune on such a large spool.

PACKAGING!!!
Another great use of twine is to use it on your packaging to add that cute little element to spruce up your gift.

Here I die cut a take-out box out of Kraft paper. I LOVE Kraft and the different colors of twine look so nice against the natural color. I used the Purple twine and wrapped it twice around the box, finishing it off with a bow. Then I added a butterfly diecut to the front of the box for decoration. Who knew something so simple could look so cute!!

FAVOR BOXES!!!

Another great use of Twine is to use it on your favor boxes!!!

Instead of using ribbon, here I used the Baby Pink twine on a strawberry favor box I made for a customer.

Lastly, instead of using ribbon, I used the Dark Pink twine to tie off the ends of the candy favor box.

As you can see, Baker's twine is a very versatile fiber that you can use on any craft project. It adds a little cute element that just makes it perfect. Please stop by the store if you can to see these gorgeous projects in person. And you can visit the online store to view all the pretty colors!

X-PRESS IT BLENDING CARD

This has us very excited! Marianne Walker mentioned a couple months ago that she recommended this paper to anyone living in Australia (because they can’t get Neenah over there), and now it's coming to Pineapple Cove!!

Why did we fall in love with this paper? Because it blends beautifully, it bleeds less than our old favorite, Neenah Classic Crest, and it has a nice, bright white color.

It will be available in a large pack with 125 sheets of 8.5"x11" OR a smaller pack of 25 sheets. It is about 92 lb. paper -- just a little heavier than the Neenah, but it is a much tighter grained paper, so it doesn't feel too thick.

Here’s an example Marianne colored for you:

If you look at this close up on the pink popsicle, you can see that the Neenah is a much softer paper, and it can feather if you don't let it dry a little between layering colors and/or color too closely to the stamped lines. This gets to be a big problem when you're working with intense reds and other dark colors.

The Blending Card, however, gives nice blends without bleeding and you don't have to wait or be careful! I love it! Because it is not as soft as the Neenah, it takes less ink to color so your marker lasts longer before needing to be refilled.

Here is a video from CHA of Marianne Walker talking about the new blending card on YouTube.

HIGH TACK DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE

Another new product Copic is importing from our friends in Australia is something that has proven to be very popular, X-Press It High Tack, Double-Sided Tape:

This tape is extremely high tack, acid free, easy to use, and comes in 3 sizes: 1/8", 1/4", and 1/2". Originally developed for the picture framing industry in Australia, this tape is perfect for paper crafting. Rolls are very inexpensive, and there's a lot of tape on each roll as well -- 55 yards on rolls of 1/2" and 1/4", 27 yards on the 1/8" rolls.

X-Press It Tape is heat resistant (you can heat-emboss with it) and very strong. You can even use it for hemming pants and it will survive the washer and dryer!

High Tack tape is easy to use. It tears cleanly with your fingers and the liner/backing is easy to peel off.

Both the Blending Paper & Adhesives are expected to arrive at Pineapple Cove by September 30th. So Pre-Order your's today & SAVE!!!
